Project Description
The work of the Lithium Innovation Center – CIL – is oriented to promote and contribute to the national growth of the lithium industry, through the development of an area of applied research about the use of this element in advanced batteries, in order to be used in new electric vehicles. This task aims to solve 4 major problems for the near future associated with these Lithium Ion batteries: Reduce their current price by 5 times. Increase the range of use per charge to more than 300 km, while maintaining their current size and weight. Improve its fast charging speed to less than 15 minutes. Extend its useful life to more than 10 years of use (more than 1,000 charge cycles).
This center also supports the training of new professionals and specialists in this field, the creation of value-added products and services, and the exploration of new business models in Chile.
